About
Shawnda Jameson
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health and a Bachelors in Behavioral Science. I began working in mental health in 2014 as a Behavioral Rehab Specialist, teaching skills to individuals that help them manage the symptoms that often come along with anxiety and depression. I spent several years working in substance abuse and addressing issues that can be related to addictive behaviors such as trauma, isolation, shame, guilt and relational difficulties. I enjoy staying current with new techniques/models of therapy, always workshopping and learning new skills to help people achieve their best possible life. I understand that stepping out and asking for help can be difficult, so I strive to make the process as comfortable as possible. I believe that counseling is not one size fits all but instead should always be centered on the needs of the individual.
Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional uses the advances in neuroscience that provide a roadmap for the brain that shows the key to working with anxious minds. This neuroscience CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) can inform why, how and what techniques can help clients stop the symptoms of anxiety — even the tough to treat panic attacks, worry, rumination, nausea, and pounding hearts.
"Shawnda is an excellent therapist who has a heart to help those that are hurting. She's able to easily connect with others and provide a space that truly offers healing and support."
“Shawnda creates a safe and supportive environment for you to truly open and explore even the hardest of emotions. She truly cares about the wellbeing and needs of her clients.”
National Certified Counselor (NCC) is the premier counseling board certification. Earning board certification demonstrates to your colleagues and the public that you have voluntarily met high national standards for the practice of counseling.
Those standards include demonstrating a mastery of counseling knowledge and skills by completing a graduate degree from a regionally accredited or Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) counseling program, passing a rigorous national examination, the documentation of work experience and supervision requirements, and subscribing to the highest ethical and practice standards.
